The Month of Snow

Good evening, everyone!
Hope you're all nestled safe at home tonight...
I know many of you, including myself, have been pummeled
by snowfall these past few weeks. Last night was a especially big one
for us in New York, and we're currently buried in over two-feet of it!

So, although my humble abode is (unfortunately) not in New England,
I'd still like to share with you a few pictures of our neighborhood's snowy
landscape this past month... and let's face it, any neighborhood
resembles New England  a little bit whilst covered in snow...
which is why I think I love it so much!

The first big blizzard of 2011 (Jan. 12):

Mom before going on our snow-stroll

Charming house in the neighborhood

A very New England-esque house!

An inviting path

Cozy...

Trekking back to our home

Me in my trusty Bean Boots!

The aftermath of yesterday's thundering snow-storm (Jan. 27):

View from my bedroom window about an hour ago

Our beautiful pine trees frosted with snow

My street

Yep... we got it good!

Stay warm!

Dream Homes for Sale (RI, MA, CT)!

Hello, everyone!
How has your month been going?
Mine's been spent rejuvenating in anticipation
for my final semester as an undergraduate (starting
this very Monday... eek!) I apologize that I never got
around to posting as much as I thought I would
... the time just flew by so fast!

But here I am, regardless, and I've brought with me
some beautiful New England homes that are currently
on the market for some lucky soul to make their own!

East Greenwich, RI
($699,000)

"The Clement Weaver - Daniel Howland house - where history has been preserved in a museum-quality restoration. The home retains most of its original details; wide board flooring, SIX fireplaces, leaded-pane windows, exposed beams, original hardware, hand-split cedar shake roof and so much more. All systems have been upgraded. The property includes a detached, two-car garage, with a new 16'x17’ professional office. There is also a brand new 2-story, 18'x24’ studio with all utilities, 2"x6" walls and full basement. Currently used as a hobby woodshop. This would make a great guesthouse or in-law.
Within the main house the eight large rooms are easily ‘re-purposed.’ For us, the extra bedrooms seamlessly converted into a library, TV room and formal dining room. The huge keeping room is not only our formal living area, but also offers candlelight dinners in front of a roaring 17th century fireplace. The home, once owned by The Society for Preservation of New England Antiquities was to become a museum. If you love antique home living, it doesn’t get much better than this."

----------

Marblehead, MA
($729,000)

"This lovingly restored 1760 antique home is nestled at the base of Crocker Park in the heart of Old Town steps to Marblehead Harbor. This residence boasts magnificent original period detail which includes 3 working fireplaces plus modern amenities such as central AC, deluxe new gourmet kitchen with granite breakfast bar, top of the line baths, multiple decks and the most spectacular terraced, professionally designed gardens. New 3 zone heating system, updated electric. can be purchased furnished."

----------

This following property is the perfect fixer-upper...
I couldn't resist throwing it in due to how much potential it has!

Coventry, CT
($159,900)

"Elias Sprague House-- on National Register. Many intact original details. Rehab project. Post & plank construction older than indicated. 3 FP. Adjacent to Hale Forrest."

B&B Friday (My Martha's Vineyard Trip)!

'Evening, everyone!
How many of you are getting snowed upon presently?
It's been on and off in my parts; not nearly as much accumulation
as we previously anticipated. But I've nevertheless have been enjoying gazing
through my lace curtains at the occasional large puffs sprinkling from the sky ♥

Was anyone pleasantly surprised at seeing the title "B&B Friday"
on your dashboard? I know I've neglected this feature for an awfully
long time, but I've never forgotten it, and have thus resurrected it to share
with you the inn I'm planning on staying in on my trip to the Vineyard . . .

 The Victorian Inn
(Edgartown, MA)

"The Victorian Inn is an attractive Inn with the casual elegance of a restored Whaling Captain's Home on the Island of Martha's Vineyard in historical Edgartown. We have maintained the tradition and charm of that era and await you as our guests for a relaxing, hospitable and comfortable vacation. Situated on the lovely South Water Street where many sea captains built their mansions; directly across from the famous Pagoda Tree, one block above the town dock and harbor; just a short stroll to many fine restaurants, quaint shops, museums and art galleries."

Goodbye, Holidays! Hello, Martha's Vineyard!

Hello, everyone ♥
Here I am! Back from temporary hibernation.
How was everyone's Holiday?
Mine was very pleasant and relaxing; I finally had
the chance to kick back and unwind from all the
stress wreaked upon me over these past few months.

Of course, with the close of the Holiday season comes a little bit of
melancholy, but I've always had a sort of tradition to shoo those blues away . . .

Summer vacation planning!

"Summer vacation?! It's only January!" some of you might be thinking.
My answer-- that's precisely why I begin planning now! Doing so
ensures me of something exciting to look forward to over these cold
winter months. And if you currently live in a frosty, bone-rattling
climate like I do, you'd probably understand the therapeutics
in thinking of beach towels, sunny days, and flip flops!

So what do I have in mind this year for an excursion?
(and a New England one at that, of course!)

Martha's Vineyard!

Ever since I picked up Susan Branch's Autumn book
and fell head over heals with New England, Martha's Vineyard
has always been one of the top places I've wished to travel to.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with MV, it is a small island
off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts that has been
a summering haven for well over a hundred years.

Gingerbread cottages in Oak Bluffs

From the bustling harbor of Vineyard Haven, to the
stately Captain homes in Edgartown, the towns of Martha's
Vineyard promise something wonderful for every kind of traveler.
