Dream Home for Sale (Stockton Springs, ME)!

Good evening, everyone!

I apologize for the lack of a post this
past Monday; I've been so exhausted from
the heat, I just never got around to it...
but during my short absence, I did come up
with a new idea for this little blog of mine:
every so often, I will feature a particularly charming
house for sale in New England for all of you to see!
I'll share with you the location, the details,
the asking price, and as many photos I can get
my hands on... I hope you'll enjoy this ♥

So, without further ado, here is our first featured home!:

Stockton Springs, Maine

"Restored 1790 center chimney cape with three working fireplaces and beehive oven. 9 rooms - 2-5 bedrooms, 3 full baths. Family room or studio with separate access. Gorgeous woodwork and proportions make this home aesthetically charming. Attached 3 story barn features garage on lowest level, heated living area in mid level and large summer room with storage on top level. 1+ acres. Terraced stone walls and sweeping stair to entry. Established raspberry patch and perennial gardens.

This home was restored from the ground up in 1992 including rebuilt chimneys, crafted by a mason from the show 'This Old House.' The first floor of the main house is comprised of the living room with fireplace, keeping room with fireplace, 'borning' room now used as an office, full bath, den with fireplace and an ell which houses the kitchen and mudroom. Upstairs there are two bedrooms and a full bath.

The main house is heated by oil forced air and the wonderful wood burning fireplaces. Exposed beams, wide board floors, built-ins including corner cabinet, bookshelves, chimney cupboards and authentic doors and hardware make this a real classic. The attached finished barn has two stories of living space with garage below. The middle floor has two bunk rooms, bath, and a studio (with its own access from outside) or family room with built in bookcases. This room is heated by a propane stove and is on the same level as the main floor of the house. There is a very large room on the upper level that is being used as a summer bedroom and sitting area. This home is located in Stockton Springs, a small village with a permanent population of 1700. The house sits on a generous acre on a one-block street, within walking distance of Stockton Harbor, the library and post office. This is an excellent walking/jogging area with a loop that passes by the harbor. Two streets to the north is Cape Jellison Road which leads to a public marina, Fort Point Lighthouse and Fort Point State Park. Just a few miles north in the Sandy Point section of Stockton Springs is Sandy Point Beach Park, one of the few sand beaches in this area of Maine.

Stockton Springs is located about 9 miles from Belfast to the south and Bucksport to the north. It is also about half way between Rockland and Bar Harbor and is 25 miles from Bangor, which has all of the big box stores and a good shopping mall. This area of mid-coast Maine has many art and cultural activities year round."

  12. What a great idea, Erin.....enjoyed that little trip back to Stockton Springs. I was there a few years ago on my way to Bar Harbor, and LOVED that area. House is so classic NE.
Hope things have cooled down there.

  13. I just found your blog by way of "Home Is Where The Heart Is". I am a life long New Englander, most of the time I love it here! I will be back to read your older posts. You have a very nice blog!

  14. Hi Erin,
I am just catching up on your last few posts! I really enjoyed all the Nantucket photos -such a charming place. I love the little house that was your Mom's favorite.

    have a good weekend,

  15. Wow! I am loving this place! And I'm loving your real estate idea. This is such a gorgeous, historical house and that's exactly what I want someday.

  16. teddy and kary stopping by to say HI !

  17. OOoOOOOOooooOOOOOoo I want it! We are talking about getting a second home in ME for when we retire...sigh...someday! this is a beauty!
    Happy Belated Birthday Erin!

  18. You should also include in the overall price of your home some available features in it such as a nice pool, a great landscape, or a nice patio. These things will add value to your property. However, some features such as a very classy fireplace that is not functional should not be taken into account.

    sell my house quick

  19. Selling a house fast is a price that's within 5% to 10% of other homes in the neighborhood. If you've hired a real estate agent, they'll know what other houses in your area have sold for. If you've decided to sell your home yourself, you can find information on recent home sales in your area online.
