The Endeavor

Hello!

One of the big excursions during my days
on Nantucket will be taking a sailing cruise aboard

The Endeavor, a 31-foot replica Friendship sloop,
gives informative tours around the harbor and sound by
Captain James Genther who, with 25 years of experience,
aptly informs his passengers about Nantucket's maritime
history and various waterfront spots along the island.

I, for one, am incredibly excited to hop on board this
ship because, a.) I've never been on sailboat before and
have always dreamed to, and b.) what is a more beautiful
way to see the island of Nantucket than from the sea?

The only thing that may stop me from doing this is the weather,
but so far the forecast looks pretty good, so I'm crossing my fingers!

3 more days!

  1. What a wonderful way to see the Island! That's something I've never done either (a sharp reminder of my "washashore" status here)! ;)

  2. I have never been on a sailboat before either..., and one day I will go on a little cruise like this -maybe I'd get sea sick! Got sea sick on the ferry ride to Block Island, there was fog though.

Hope the weather holds for you.

  7. Hi Erin! We did the same thing about 10 years ago off Martha's Vineyard, aboard the Shenandoah when staying with SB...it's really wonderful and should be a marvellously memorable part of your trip! We just got back from a week on a 4 masted Clipper sailing ship around the Mediterranean - I was a bit queasy at the start, but I found that if you stay up on deck (which I'm sure you'll do anyway - the views!) and breathe deeply, you'll be fine! Can't wait to hear all about it sweetie! xoxo Rachel

  8. I love your descriptions of the plans you have for your Nantucket trip. It all sounds so wonderful!
Where I live the Pineapple Ketch and the Eleanor Schooner offer similar cruises. I love to see them though have never been on one!
Enjoy your trip and am looking forward to hearing more about it when you return!
